MindGeek Plans to Offer AgeID System in Response to U.K. Law

LONDON – Adult entertainment conglomerate MindGeek has disclosed plans to install a new system within the U.K. across all of its sites known as AgeID, according to a new Inverse.com report.

The Digital Economy Act of 2017, which went into law several weeks ago, is expected to require adult sites to verify ages by May 2018, the report said.

MindGeek, with AgeID, is presenting its own solution to the new law. When a user visits a AgeID-supported site, they will be prompted to create an account.

The user then is offered a variety of authentication options, like their passport or mobile phone to confirm their age.

AgeID then passes the user onto a third-party “regulator-approved” service to verify their age, and the service sends back a “yes” or “no” as to whether the user passed the verification check. With an AgeID account, users bypass the check.

AgeID will also allow other websites to participate, the Infused.com report said.

MindGeek operates numerous brands such as Brazzers.com, Twistys.com, YouPorn.com, Spankwire.com, RedTube.com, Tube8.com, ExtremeTube.com, KeezMovies.com, Mofos.com, ExtremeTube.com, JuicyBoys.com and PornHub.com, as well as Playboy Plus, Really Useful Ltd., Digital Playground and Reality Kings.
